Possible Causes

Failed convection fan motor, Jammed fan blades, Faulty fan thermostat, Open fan wiring or connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the microwave and allow it to cool before working near the convection area.

  • 1. Mode test: Run the microwave in convection-only mode. If E15 appears and the fan does not run, the convection fan circuit is suspect.
  • 2. Visual inspection: Remove the rear or top cover (depending on model) to access the convection fan. Check for food debris or foil blocking the blades.
  • 3. Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand (with power disconnected). If it is stiff or seized, the motor must be replaced.
  • 4. Electrical test: Disconnect the fan motor leads and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
  • 5. Check wiring and thermostat: Inspect the wiring from the control PCB to the fan and any inline thermostat for continuity.
  • 6. Replace faulty motor or thermostat and reassemble: Test convection mode again.
