Possible Causes
Loose door switch mounting bracket, Worn door latch hooks, Intermittent door switch contacts, Loose door switch harness connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before accessing door switch components.
- 1. Wiggle test: Start a short cook cycle with a cup of water, then gently press or lift the door handle (do not open). If the unit stops or E16 appears, the door interlock is intermittent.
- 2. Inspect latch and hinges: Check for play in the door hinges and wear on the latch hooks. Replace worn latch parts.
- 3. Tighten switch brackets: Remove the cover and locate the door switch assembly. Tighten any loose screws holding the switches and bracket.
- 4. Replace suspect switches: Even if they test okay, switches that arc or feel rough when actuated should be replaced as a set.
- 5. Reseat harness connectors: Ensure all connectors in the door switch circuit are fully seated.
