Possible Causes
Blocked built-in ventilation channels,Failed cavity cooling fan,Tripped cavity thermal cut-out,Grease buildup on cooling ducts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave and allow it to cool completely before inspection.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Verify installation clearances: For built-in Privileg microwaves, ensure the cabinet cut-out and trim kit follow the installation manual. Blocked exhaust paths can cause overheating and E10.
- 2. Clean ventilation paths: Remove the trim kit and vacuum dust from intake and exhaust openings. Clean any accessible grease filters.
- 3. Listen for the cooling fan: During operation, you should hear a fan running. If the fan is silent or very noisy, it may be failing.
- 4. Access the cooling fan: Remove the outer cabinet. Locate the cavity cooling fan (often a tangential or axial fan near the top or side). Check for obstructions and spin the blade by hand to ensure it moves freely.
- 5. Test the fan motor: Disconnect the fan and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace with the correct Privileg fan assembly.
- 6. Check thermal cut-outs: Test any thermal cut-outs on the cavity or duct for continuity. Replace if open and not resettable.
Note: After replacing parts, clear the error by unplugging for several minutes, then test with a short cooking cycle.
