Possible Causes
Damaged or burned waveguide cover, Metal object or foil in cavity, Heavy grease buildup on cavity walls, Exposed paint or bare metal spots
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety Warning: Stop the microwave immediately if you see sparks. Unplug before cleaning or inspection.
Steps:
- 1. Remove metal: Ensure there is no metal cookware, twist ties, or foil in the oven.
- 2. Inspect waveguide cover: Locate the small plastic or mica panel on the side wall. If it is burned, cracked, or has holes, it must be replaced before further use.
- 3. Clean cavity: Thoroughly clean grease and food splatter from the walls and ceiling using a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive pads that can remove paint.
- 4. Touch-up paint: If small paint chips expose bare metal, use microwave-safe cavity touch-up paint to cover them.
Do not operate the microwave with a damaged waveguide cover or exposed metal, as this can damage the magnetron.
