Possible Causes
Moisture behind control panel,Failed membrane keypad,Loose ribbon cable between keypad and PCB,Control PCB input circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before removing the control panel.
- 1. Dry out moisture: If E6 appeared after heavy steam cooking, leave the door open and unplugged for several hours to allow moisture to evaporate from behind the control panel. Then reconnect power and test.
- 2. Clean the panel surface: Wipe the keypad with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. Do not allow liquid to run into the edges of the panel.
- 3. Check keypad ribbon cable (advanced): Remove the outer cover and then the control panel assembly. Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the main PCB. Reseat the cable, ensuring it is fully inserted and locked. Inspect for corrosion or cracks in the ribbon.
- 4. Test keypad function: With the unit reassembled, test multiple buttons. If some keys work and others do not, the membrane keypad is likely failing and should be replaced.
- 5. If E6 persists with a new keypad: The control PCB may have a defective input circuit and will need replacement by a technician.
