Liquid ingress into keypad,Stuck or damaged membrane switch,Shorted keypad ribbon cable,Control PCB keypad interface fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before working on the control panel.
- 1. Inspect for moisture: If SE appeared after cleaning or a spill, leave the microwave unplugged with the door open for several hours to dry. Do not use heat sources directly on the panel.
- 2. Gently press all keys: Run your finger around the keypad, pressing each button several times to free any that may be physically stuck.
- 3. Surface cleaning: Wipe the keypad with a dry cloth. Avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the panel; instead, apply to the cloth.
- 4. Internal inspection (advanced): Remove the control panel assembly and inspect the membrane keypad and ribbon cable for corrosion, creases, or damage. Reseat the ribbon cable into the control PCB.
- 5. Replace keypad if needed: If SE persists and certain keys do not respond or appear permanently pressed, replace the membrane keypad panel.
- 6. If still unresolved: The control PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
