Possible Causes
Open grill heating element, Failed convection fan motor, Faulty grill thermostat or thermal cut-out, Loose wiring to heater terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before any inspection. Heating elements can remain hot after use.
User checks:
- 1. Visual inspection: Look at the grill element at the top of the cavity for visible breaks, burn marks, or sagging.
- 2. Test different modes: Try pure microwave mode versus grill or convection mode. Note which modes trigger E8.
- 3. Allow cooling: If E8 appears after long grill use, let the unit cool for 30 minutes and try again.
Technician checks:
- Test continuity of the grill element and convection heater (if fitted) with a multimeter.
- Inspect the convection fan motor for free rotation and electrical continuity.
- Check the grill thermostat/thermal cut-out for continuity.
- Repair or replace any open components with Salter-compatible parts.
If E8 persists, the control PCB heater relay or triac may be faulty and require replacement.
