How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before inspecting the turntable drive from below.
Checks:
- 1. Inspect inside the cavity: Remove the glass tray and roller ring. Clean any spilled food or debris from the floor of the cavity. Check that the roller ring is not cracked and that it rolls smoothly.
- 2. Check the coupler: Inspect the plastic turntable coupler that fits over the motor shaft. Ensure it is not cracked or stripped. Replace if damaged.
- 3. Test rotation: With the tray and ring removed, gently try to rotate the coupler by hand. It should turn with slight resistance. If it is seized, the motor may be jammed or failed.
- 4. Access motor (advanced): Unplug the unit, remove the bottom cover (if accessible), and locate the turntable motor. Check for burnt smell, discoloration, or loose wires. Test the motor coil for continuity with a multimeter.
Repair: Replace the turntable motor and/or coupler with Sharp-compatible parts if they test defective. Reassemble, ensuring the bottom cover is securely fastened before use.
