Microwave displays E08 and will not start; keypad appears to respond but cooking does not begin.

Safety: Unplug the microwave before removing the control panel.

Steps:

• 1. Power reset: Unplug for 2–3 minutes, then reconnect. Sometimes static or minor glitches can cause keypad errors.
• 2. Check for stuck keys: Press each button individually and feel for normal travel. If any key feels stuck or unresponsive, the membrane may be damaged.
• 3. Inspect for moisture: If the panel was recently cleaned with liquid, allow it to dry completely. Do not spray cleaner directly on the keypad; instead, spray onto a cloth and wipe.
• 4. Ribbon cable check (advanced): Remove the control panel assembly (usually a few screws). Carefully disconnect and reconnect the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board, ensuring it is fully seated and not corroded.

Repair: If E08 persists and certain keys do not respond, replace the membrane keypad or the entire control panel assembly with the correct Sharp part. If all keys fail and the keypad tests good, the main control board may need replacement.
