Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Internal metal edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
Steps:
- 1. Listen for fan: In convection preheat mode, you should hear the convection fan. If silent and E12 appears, suspect the fan circuit.
- 2. Access fan (advanced): Remove the cabinet and locate the convection fan assembly at the rear of the cavity. Check for obstructions or debris preventing rotation.
- 3. Spin test: Gently spin the fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely. If stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad.
- 4. Electrical tests: Check the fan motor connector for secure fit. Test the motor winding for continuity with a multimeter. Also inspect any inline thermal fuse on the fan circuit.
Repair: Replace the convection fan motor (and thermal fuse if open) with Sharp-approved parts. Ensure the fan blade is correctly oriented and secured before reassembly.
