Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
SAFETY: Unplug the microwave before opening the cabinet. Avoid the high-voltage section.
E05 indicates the control cannot read the cavity temperature correctly.
- Step 1 – Reset and environment:
- Allow the microwave to cool for 20–30 minutes if it has been used heavily.
- Unplug for 5 minutes, then reconnect and test.
- Step 2 – Locate the thermistor (for competent DIYers):
- Remove the outer cabinet.
- Look for a small sensor (often in a metal or plastic housing) attached to the top or side of the cooking cavity with two wires leading to the control board.
- Step 3 – Inspect connections:
- Check that the thermistor plug is firmly seated on the control PCB.
- Inspect the wire insulation for cuts or burns.
- Step 4 – Test/replace (for technicians):
- Measure the thermistor resistance at room temperature and compare with SilverCrest service data.
- Replace the thermistor if readings are out of specification or intermittent.
If the sensor and wiring are good, the control PCB may be defective and require professional replacement.
