Possible Causes

Failed turntable motor, Jammed turntable coupler, Broken turntable drive shaft, Faulty motor wiring or relay on control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

SAFETY: Unplug the microwave before accessing the underside or interior components.

E08 indicates the control has detected a problem with the turntable rotation.

  • Step 1 – Basic checks:
    • Remove the glass tray and roller ring; clean any spilled food or debris.
    • Inspect the plastic coupler in the center for cracks or warping.
    • Run the microwave briefly (with a cup of water) and observe if the coupler turns without the tray installed.
  • Step 2 – Underside inspection (unplugged):
    • Turn the microwave on its side or back (protect the cabinet with a towel).
    • Remove the bottom cover (if accessible on your SilverCrest model).
    • Locate the turntable motor and check for loose wires or signs of overheating.
  • Step 3 – Motor test (for DIYers with multimeter):
    • Disconnect the motor leads and measure resistance; an open circuit indicates a failed motor.
    • Replace the motor if defective, ensuring the new motor matches the original SilverCrest specification (voltage, RPM, shaft type).

If the motor tests good but E08 persists, the control PCB motor drive circuit may be faulty and should be serviced professionally.
