Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
SAFETY: Unplug the microwave. Internal metal edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
E09 indicates insufficient airflow detected by the control.
- Step 1 – External airflow:
- Ensure the microwave is not built into a tight cabinet unless designed as a built-in model.
- Clear any objects blocking the side, rear, or top vents.
- Step 2 – Internal fan inspection (unplugged):
- Remove the outer cabinet.
- Locate the cooling fan (usually near the magnetron and rear vents).
- Check for dust buildup, plastic wrap, or insulation obstructing the blades.
- Spin the fan by hand to confirm free movement.
- Step 3 – Wiring check:
- Inspect the fan motor connectors for looseness or heat damage.
- Step 4 – Motor replacement (for DIYers):
- If the fan is seized or has burnt windings, replace it with a SilverCrest-compatible cooling fan motor.
If the fan and vents are fine but E09 persists, the airflow sensing or control circuit may be defective and requires professional diagnosis.
