Cavity Lamp Circuit Error
Microwave shows E14; interior light does not work or flickers
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Burnt cavity lamp, Loose lamp holder contacts, Faulty lamp relay on control PCB, Damaged lamp wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
SAFETY: Unplug the microwave. Lamps may be hot immediately after use.
E14 indicates a problem in the lamp circuit.
- Step 1 – Basic lamp check:
- Look at the lamp through the lens while starting a short cook cycle.
- If the filament is visibly broken or the lamp never lights, it is likely blown.
- Step 2 – Lamp replacement (for DIYers):
- Remove the outer cabinet or lamp cover (depending on SilverCrest model).
- Carefully remove the lamp from its holder; avoid touching the glass with bare fingers on halogen types.
- Install a replacement lamp with the exact same type, wattage, and base as specified by SilverCrest.
- Step 3 – Wiring check:
- Inspect the lamp holder and wiring for heat damage or loose connections.
If a new lamp does not resolve E14, the control PCB lamp relay or driver may be faulty and require professional repair.
