Possible Causes

Blocked ventilation, Failed cooling fan, Weak or faulty main thermal cut-out, Excessive ambient temperature around microwave

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

SAFETY: Unplug the microwave and allow it to cool completely before inspection.

E15 indicates that an overheat safety device has tripped.

  • Step 1 – Ventilation:
    • Ensure the microwave has the clearances specified in the SilverCrest manual.
    • Clean dust and grease from external vents.
  • Step 2 – Cooling fan check (unplugged):
    • Remove the outer cabinet.
    • Verify that the cooling fan is unobstructed and spins freely.
  • Step 3 – Thermal cut-out inspection (for technicians):
    • Locate the main thermal cut-out on the cavity or chassis.
    • Check for loose mounting or poor contact with the metal surface.
    • Test continuity; replace if open and non-resettable.

If E15 recurs despite good ventilation and a working fan, have a technician check for internal overheating causes.
