Microwave display and buttons work, but pressing START does nothing

SAFETY: No high-voltage work is required for basic checks, but unplug before removing the control panel.

• Step 1 – Child lock:
  • Check if a padlock icon is lit; disable child lock per SilverCrest manual (usually holding STOP or a specific key).
• Step 2 – Door closure:
  • Open and close the door firmly; listen for clicks.
  • Try holding the door slightly pressed in while pressing START.
• Step 3 – Keypad test:
  • Try other functions (e.g., STOP, power level) to see if they respond.
  • If only START is unresponsive, the keypad may be faulty.
• Step 4 – Internal checks (for DIYers):
  • Remove the control panel and reseat the keypad ribbon cable.

If the issue persists, the membrane keypad or control PCB likely needs replacement.
