Possible Causes
Faulty START button on keypad, Door switch not signaling closed, Control PCB logic fault, Child lock enabled
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
SAFETY: No high-voltage work is required for basic checks, but unplug before removing the control panel.
- Step 1 – Child lock:
- Check if a padlock icon is lit; disable child lock per SilverCrest manual (usually holding STOP or a specific key).
- Step 2 – Door closure:
- Open and close the door firmly; listen for clicks.
- Try holding the door slightly pressed in while pressing START.
- Step 3 – Keypad test:
- Try other functions (e.g., STOP, power level) to see if they respond.
- If only START is unresponsive, the keypad may be faulty.
- Step 4 – Internal checks (for DIYers):
- Remove the control panel and reseat the keypad ribbon cable.
If the issue persists, the membrane keypad or control PCB likely needs replacement.
