How to Fix / Troubleshooting
SAFETY: Unplug the microwave before opening the cabinet. Internal fuses are not user-serviceable in some regions; check local regulations.
- Step 1 – External checks:
- Verify the wall outlet with another appliance.
- Check that any household circuit breaker or RCD has not tripped.
- Step 2 – Power cord:
- Inspect the SilverCrest power cord for cuts, kinks, or burn marks.
- Step 3 – Internal fuse (for competent DIYers):
- Remove the outer cabinet.
- Locate the mains fuse near the power cord entry or line filter board.
- If the fuse is visibly blown (blackened or broken filament), replace it only with the exact same type and rating.
- If the new fuse blows immediately, stop and contact a technician; there is likely a shorted component.
Do not bypass or up-rate the fuse. If the fuse and cord are good but the unit remains dead, the line filter or control PCB may be faulty and require professional service.
