Microwave fan continues to run for a long time after cooking has finished
Advertisements
Possible Causes
High internal temperature from long cooking, Stuck fan relay on control PCB, Faulty temperature sensor reading high, Blocked vents causing slow cooling
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
SAFETY: This is often normal behavior, but if the fan never stops, service may be needed.
- Step 1 – Normal overrun:
- After long or high-power cooking, the fan may run for several minutes to cool the magnetron and cavity.
- Step 2 – Ventilation:
- Ensure vents are clear and the unit has proper clearance.
- Step 3 – Observe duration:
- If the fan runs continuously for more than 20–30 minutes after cooking, unplug the unit and have the control PCB and sensors checked.
