How to Fix / Troubleshooting
SAFETY: Stop the microwave immediately if you see sparks. Unplug before cleaning or inspection.
- Step 1 – Remove metal:
- Ensure no metal utensils, foil, or twist ties are inside.
- Step 2 – Clean cavity:
- Thoroughly clean the interior with mild detergent and water, focusing on the area around the waveguide cover.
- Dry completely.
- Step 3 – Inspect waveguide cover:
- Check the mica waveguide cover for burns, holes, or heavy grease.
- Replace the cover if damaged, using a SilverCrest-compatible waveguide cover cut to the correct size.
- Step 4 – Cavity paint:
- If paint is chipped down to bare metal, touch up with microwave-safe cavity paint according to instructions.
Do not operate the microwave with a missing or damaged waveguide cover.
