Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance and allow all internal parts to cool before inspection. Heating elements and metal surfaces can remain hot.
User checks:
- Verify that you are selecting a valid grill or convection program and setting a temperature/time according to the manual.
- Listen for the convection fan when starting a convection program; if it does not run at all, note this for the technician.
- Check that the interior is clean and that no foil or metal objects are touching the grill element.
Reset:
- Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and test a basic grill program.
Technician checks:
- Test the grill element for continuity and replace if open.
- Check the grill/convection temperature sensor or thermostat for correct resistance/continuity.
- Inspect wiring and connectors from the control board to the grill element and fan.
- Verify that the control PCB is correctly driving the grill relay or triac.
If E06 persists, a failed element or sensor is likely and should be replaced with the correct SMEG part.
