Possible Causes
Worn turntable motor, Misaligned or damaged roller ring, Loose fan blades or debris in fan, Loose internal mounting screws
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before inspecting moving parts.
User checks:
- Remove the glass tray and roller ring. Clean and inspect for damage.
- Run the microwave briefly (10–15 seconds) without the tray (if manual allows) to see if the noise persists. Do not run empty for long.
- If the noise disappears without the tray, the issue is likely with the tray, coupler, or roller ring.
Additional checks:
- Ensure the microwave is level and not vibrating against cabinets or walls.
If grinding or scraping persists even without the tray, an internal fan or motor may be failing and should be inspected by a technician.
