Possible Causes

Failed turntable motor, Broken or stripped turntable coupler, Misplaced or damaged roller ring, Turntable off/disabled in settings

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the microwave before handling internal moving parts.

User checks:

  • Ensure the turntable function is enabled (some SMEG models allow disabling rotation for large dishes).
  • Remove the glass tray and roller ring. Clean both and the cavity floor.
  • Inspect the roller ring for flat spots or broken wheels; replace if damaged.
  • Check the plastic coupler on the floor of the cavity for cracks or melting.

Test:

  • Reassemble the roller ring and tray correctly.
  • Plug in and run a short cycle. If the tray still does not rotate, the motor or coupler is likely faulty.

Turntable motor replacement requires access from the bottom of the unit and should be done by a technician.
