Possible Causes
Open or shorted cavity thermistor, Loose thermistor wiring harness, Failed control board temperature input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before any internal inspection.
User-level checks:
- Allow the microwave to cool completely for 30–60 minutes, then plug back in and test. Overheating can sometimes trigger sensor-related codes.
- Ensure vents and filters are clean to prevent overheating.
Technical steps:
- Locate the cavity temperature sensor (thermistor), typically mounted on the top or side of the oven cavity behind the inner liner.
- Check the thermistor wiring harness for damage or loose connections at both the sensor and control board ends.
- Measure the thermistor resistance at room temperature and compare to Summit specifications. Replace if out of range or open/shorted.
- If the thermistor tests good, the fault may be in the control board's sensor circuit, requiring board replacement.
After replacing the thermistor or control board, clear the error by unplugging for several minutes, then test with a short cook cycle.
