Possible Causes

Damaged membrane keypad, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and control board, Moisture intrusion behind control panel, Failed touch control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the microwave before removing the control panel.

Initial checks:

  • Wipe the keypad surface with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. Sticky residue can sometimes affect responsiveness.
  • Check if some buttons work while others do not. A pattern of failed keys often indicates a membrane switch issue.

Panel inspection:

  • Remove the control panel assembly (usually by removing screws at the top or side).
  • Inspect the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board. Reseat it carefully, ensuring it is fully inserted and locked.
  • Look for signs of moisture, corrosion, or burns on the keypad PCB or membrane.
  • If reseating the cable does not restore function, replace the keypad/membrane assembly or the entire control panel, depending on Summit's part design.

Reassemble and test all keypad functions before returning the unit to normal use.
