Microwave cavity paint is peeling or rust is visible inside

Safety: Unplug the microwave before cleaning or painting. Do not operate with loose, flaking paint that can cause arcing.

Steps:

• Clean the cavity thoroughly and dry.
• Lightly sand small rust spots to remove loose material.
• Apply microwave-safe cavity touch-up paint per manufacturer instructions.
• Allow paint to cure fully before using the microwave.

If rust is extensive or structural, replacement of the microwave is recommended.
