Possible Causes
Broken door latch hook, Bent door frame or hinge, Misaligned door strike, Damaged door sensing switch bracket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before inspecting the door mechanism.
- Step 1 – Visual door check: Inspect the door from the front and side. Look for gaps, warping, or misalignment with the cabinet. Ensure the door closes evenly on all sides.
- Step 2 – Inspect latch hooks: Open the door and examine the plastic latch hooks at the top/side. If cracked, loose, or missing, the door will not actuate the internal switches correctly and the door assembly may need replacement.
- Step 3 – Check hinge screws: Tighten any loose hinge screws on the door and cabinet side. A sagging door can cause E9 errors.
- Step 4 – Test door closure: Close the door slowly and listen for distinct clicks from the interlock switches. If you do not hear them, the latch may not be engaging properly.
Door and latch components are critical for microwave safety. If the door is damaged or cannot be aligned, replace the complete door assembly or consult a technician.
