Possible Causes
Warped door latch, Broken door release button or lever, Food debris in latch area, Misaligned door strike
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off and unplug the microwave before forcing the door.
- Step 1 – Gentle release: Try pressing the door release button firmly while gently pulling the door. Do not use excessive force that could break the latch.
- Step 2 – Inspect latch area: Once open, inspect the latch hooks and strike area for food debris or sticky residue. Clean thoroughly.
- Step 3 – Check release button: If the button feels loose or does not spring back, the internal release lever or spring may be broken and require replacement.
If the door remains stuck closed, internal disassembly from the top/side is required and is best done by a technician to avoid damaging the safety interlocks.
