Microwave does not start; display shows E01 immediately after pressing START.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave from the mains before removing any panels. Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a dangerous charge even when unplugged. If you are not experienced with microwave repair, contact a qualified technician.
Basic checks (no disassembly):
- Open and close the door firmly several times to ensure the latch hooks engage fully.
- Inspect the door for visible damage or warping that might prevent proper closure.
- Check that no food debris or grease is obstructing the latch area or door frame; clean carefully.
Interlock switch inspection (requires removing outer cover):
- Unplug the unit and wait several minutes.
- Remove the outer cabinet screws and lift off the cover, keeping clear of the high-voltage capacitor area.
- Locate the door interlock switch cluster near the door latch assembly (typically includes primary, secondary, and monitor switches mounted on a plastic bracket).
- Visually check for broken switch actuators, loose mounting screws, or misaligned latch levers.
- Using a multimeter set to continuity, test each microswitch while operating the door latch by hand. Replace any switch that does not change state (open/close) correctly.
- Reassemble carefully, ensuring the latch bracket is firmly secured and aligned with the door hooks.
When to stop: If you are unsure about working near high-voltage components or cannot access the switches safely, stop and call an authorized Teka service center.
