Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal components. Heating elements and surrounding metal can remain hot after use.
Basic checks:
- Allow the unit to cool fully and then try again; some models reset automatically after an overheat.
- Confirm that only grill/combination modes trigger E09.
Internal inspection (technician):
- Remove the outer cover and locate the grill element at the top of the cavity.
- Inspect the element for visible breaks, burn marks, or deformation.
- Check the wiring to the element and any thermal cut-outs mounted nearby.
- Test the element for continuity; replace if open.
- Test the grill thermal cut-out for continuity; replace if open and investigate cooling issues.
Note: If the element and cut-out are good, the fault may lie in the control board relay.
