Possible Causes
Defective membrane keypad, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and control board, Corroded keypad connector, Liquid ingress into control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before working on the control panel.
- Clean the panel surface: Wipe the keypad area with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. Do not allow liquid to seep into the edges.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel assembly (usually held by screws behind the trim). Carefully disconnect and reconnect the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board.
- Check for corrosion or damage: Examine the ribbon contacts and connector for corrosion, cracks, or burnt spots. If damaged, replace the keypad or control panel assembly.
- Replace membrane keypad: On many Telefunken models, the keypad is a peel-and-stick membrane. Remove the old one, clean the surface, and install a new Telefunken-compatible keypad, ensuring the ribbon is properly seated.
