Microwave emits a strong chemical or plastic smell when new or after long storage.

Safety first: Ensure good room ventilation during initial use.

• Initial cleaning: Wipe the interior with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry.
• Burn-in cycle: Run the microwave empty with a cup of water for several short cycles, and run grill/convection (if equipped) for 10–15 minutes to burn off residues. Follow Telefunken's instructions for first use.
• Monitor smell: The odor should diminish after a few uses. If it persists or smells like burning plastic, unplug and inspect for melted parts.
