Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Thermador microwave or switch off the dedicated circuit breaker. Microwaves contain high-voltage components and a charged capacitor even when unplugged. Do not touch internal high-voltage areas unless you are trained.
- Step 1 – Check door closure: Open and close the door firmly. Ensure the Thermador door hooks fully engage the latch openings and the door is not sagging or misaligned.
- Step 2 – Inspect door latch and hinges: Look for cracked plastic latch hooks or loose hinges. If the door feels loose or does not click, the latch assembly may need replacement.
- Step 3 – Test door switches (for qualified persons): Remove the outer cover (screws at back/sides). Locate the door switch cluster near the latch. Using a multimeter, test each microswitch for continuity when the actuator is pressed and released. Replace any switch that does not change state correctly.
- Step 4 – Replace faulty parts: If a switch is defective, replace it with a Thermador-compatible door switch of the same rating. If the latch is broken, replace the complete door latch assembly.
- Step 5 – Reassemble and test: Refit the cover, restore power, and test operation with a microwave-safe cup of water.
Warning: If you are not comfortable working around high voltage or interlock systems, contact a Thermador-authorized technician.
