Possible Causes

Failed magnetron thermostat,Blocked cooling vents,Faulty cavity thermal fuse,Non-operational cooling fan motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the outlet or breaker. High voltage is present inside even when unplugged; do not touch the high-voltage section unless qualified.

  • Step 1 – Check ventilation: Ensure the Thermador microwave has proper clearance on sides/top and that cabinet or built-in trim vents are not blocked by items or dust.
  • Step 2 – Clean air paths: Remove any grease filters (for OTR/hood models) and wash them with warm soapy water. Vacuum dust from intake and exhaust grilles.
  • Step 3 – Listen for cooling fan: During operation (before it errors), you should hear the internal cooling fan. If it is silent or unusually loud, the fan motor may be failing.
  • Step 4 – Inspect thermostats and fuses (qualified persons): Remove the outer cover. Locate the magnetron thermostat and cavity thermal fuse on the magnetron and oven cavity. Test for continuity with a multimeter. Replace any open thermostat/fuse with Thermador-specified parts.
  • Step 5 – If fan is not running: Test the cooling fan motor for continuity and free rotation. Replace the fan motor if seized or open.

Warning: If the error recurs after clearing vents and filters, professional diagnosis is recommended to avoid magnetron damage.
