Possible Causes
Failed vent fan motor,Defective fan speed switch or relay,Loose wiring to fan,Obstructed fan blades or housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before servicing the fan assembly.
- Step 1 – Check controls: Verify that the vent fan settings on the Thermador control panel are correctly selected and that the display indicates fan operation.
- Step 2 – Listen for motor: If the fan is silent, suspect a motor or control issue. If it hums but does not turn, the blades may be obstructed.
- Step 3 – Access fan (qualified persons): Remove the top grille and, if necessary, the microwave from its mount to access the vent fan assembly.
- Step 4 – Inspect and clean: Remove grease and debris from the fan blades and housing. Ensure the fan spins freely.
- Step 5 – Test motor and switch: Use a multimeter to test the fan motor and any associated speed switches or relays. Replace defective components with Thermador OEM parts.
Note: Regularly clean grease filters to prevent fan overload.
