How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before touching any part of it.
Steps to clear E05:
- 1. Hard reset: Unplug the microwave for at least 5 minutes. Press and hold the STOP/CANCEL button (if accessible) for 10 seconds after plugging back in to clear any temporary logic fault.
- 2. Check power quality: Plug the microwave directly into a properly grounded wall outlet. Avoid surge-prone extension cords or multi-plugs.
- 3. Inspect keypad response: Test several buttons. If some keys do not respond or respond erratically, the keypad membrane or ribbon cable may be damaged.
- 4. Look for signs of moisture: If steam has been entering the control panel area (common in over-the-range models), allow the unit to dry for several hours with the door open, then test again.
- 5. If E05 persists: The control PCB or display board is likely faulty and must be replaced as an assembly.
Note: Control board replacement involves high-voltage exposure and should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with Toshiba microwave models.
