Possible Causes
Weak magnetron,Low line voltage,Door not sealing properly causing energy loss,Failing high-voltage capacitor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before physical inspection.
Steps to evaluate reduced heating:
- 1. Standard test: Heat 1 cup (250 ml) of room-temperature water on HIGH for 2 minutes. It should be very hot or near boiling. If only lukewarm, power is reduced.
- 2. Check power level: Ensure the power level is set to 100% and not a lower setting.
- 3. Verify door seal: Inspect the door gasket and frame for gaps or damage that could leak microwave energy.
- 4. Try different outlet: Plug into another outlet to rule out low voltage on the circuit.
If heating remains weak: Internal HV components (magnetron, capacitor, transformer/inverter) may be failing and require professional diagnosis and replacement.
