Metal object or foil in cavity,Food splatter on waveguide cover,Cracked or burned waveguide cover,Exposed metal on cavity wall
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Immediate danger: If you see sparks, press STOP and unplug the microwave immediately.
Steps to correct arcing:
- 1. Remove metal objects: Ensure there is no metal cookware, twist ties, or foil touching the cavity walls.
- 2. Clean interior: After cooling, clean all food splatters, especially near the waveguide cover (usually a small rectangular panel on the side wall).
- 3. Inspect waveguide cover: If the cover is burned, cracked, or has holes, it must be replaced before further use.
- 4. Check for chipped paint: Look for areas where cavity paint has chipped away, exposing bare metal. Small chips can sometimes be touched up with microwave-safe cavity paint by a technician.
Do not operate with a damaged waveguide cover: Arrange for replacement with a Toshiba-compatible part.
