Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety Warning: High-voltage components inside a microwave can cause severe injury or death. Do not touch internal components unless you are trained and the unit is unplugged and properly discharged.
Basic user checks:
- 1. Ventilation: Ensure the Tower microwave has adequate clearance on all sides as specified in the user manual. Move it away from walls or cabinets if vents are blocked.
- 2. Clean air vents: Inspect side, rear, and top vents for dust, grease, or debris. Use a soft brush or vacuum to gently clean them.
- 3. Load test: Place a large microwave-safe mug of water inside and run on full power for 1–2 minutes. If E2 appears quickly and the water is still cold, the magnetron or its thermal protection is likely faulty.
Advanced checks (technician level):
- Unplug the unit and remove the outer cover.
- Verify the cooling fan motor spins freely and is not obstructed by wiring or debris.
- Test the magnetron thermal cut-out (thermostat) for continuity. Replace if open at room temperature.
- Inspect the magnetron for burn marks, cracks, or a burnt smell. Replace if damaged or if all other components test good but there is no heating.
Note: Magnetron replacement in Tower microwaves is a high-voltage repair and is best left to a professional.
