Possible Causes
Shorted membrane keypad, moisture behind control panel, damaged keypad ribbon cable, failed keypad scan circuit on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before removing the control panel.
Immediate actions:
- 1. Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes to clear any temporary control glitches.
- 2. Drying: If SE appeared after heavy steaming, leave the door open and allow the control area to dry for several hours. Do not use a hair dryer or heat gun directly on the panel.
- 3. Check for contamination: Wipe the keypad surface with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. Avoid excessive liquid.
Advanced:
- Remove the control panel and inspect the membrane keypad ribbon cable for corrosion or damage.
- Reseat the ribbon cable on the control PCB.
- If SE persists, replace the membrane keypad or the entire control panel assembly.
Note: Continuous beeping and SE indicate a safety issue (phantom key presses). Do not continue using the microwave until resolved.
