Microwave beeps and shows E6; keypad does not respond or responds erratically.

Safety: Unplug the microwave before accessing the control panel.

Steps to address E6:

• 1. Power reset: Unplug the microwave for 5 minutes to reset the control. Plug back in and test. If E6 returns, continue.
• 2. Inspect keypad surface: Check for signs of liquid spills, heavy grease, or physical damage on the keypad. Wipe gently with a slightly damp cloth (no harsh chemicals) and dry thoroughly.
• 3. Access control panel: Remove the top grille (if present) and the screws securing the control panel. Carefully tilt the panel out to access the keypad ribbon cable.
• 4. Reseat ribbon cable: Disconnect the flat ribbon cable from the control board, inspect for corrosion or damage, then reconnect firmly. Ensure it is fully seated and straight.
• 5. Test keypad: With the unit reassembled, plug in and test each button. If some or all keys still fail or E6 reappears, the membrane keypad or control PCB is likely defective.
• 6. Replace faulty component: On many Tristar models, the keypad is integrated with the control panel fascia. Replace the keypad assembly or full control panel as specified for your model. If replacing the keypad does not resolve the issue, the control PCB must be replaced.
