Possible Causes

Failed door monitor switch, Incorrect alignment of door latch and interlock switches, Shorted monitor switch wiring, Control board door-sense circuit fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Unplug the microwave before any disassembly. Do not operate the unit with the cabinet removed.

Steps to address E7:

  • 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Look for warped door, bent hinges, or obstructions on the door seal area.
  • 2. Listen for clicks: Slowly open and close the door while listening for distinct clicks from the interlock switches. A missing click may indicate a failed or misaligned switch.
  • 3. Access interlock assembly: Remove the outer cabinet and locate the door switch cluster (primary, secondary, and monitor switches) on the latch side.
  • 4. Test monitor switch: Disconnect wires and test the monitor switch with a multimeter. It should be closed when the door is open and open when the door is closed (opposite of the primary switch). Replace if it does not change state correctly.
  • 5. Inspect wiring: Check for burnt, pinched, or shorted wires around the interlock assembly. Repair or replace as needed.
  • 6. Reassemble and test: After replacing any faulty switch, reassemble the cabinet, plug in, and test. If E7 persists, the control board door-sense circuit may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
