Possible Causes

Shorted or open cavity thermistor, Loose sensor wiring, Sensor mounted incorrectly against cavity wall, Control PCB sensor input failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the microwave before accessing internal components.

Steps to address F2:

  • 1. Allow cooling: If F2 appears after long cooking sessions, let the unit cool and then test again. If F2 appears even when cold, the sensor is likely faulty.
  • 2. Locate thermistor: Remove the cabinet and find the thermistor on the cavity wall or top.
  • 3. Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is properly attached and making good thermal contact with the cavity surface as designed.
  • 4. Test resistance: Disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to Tristar specifications. Replace if open, shorted, or far out of range.
  • 5. Inspect wiring and board: If the thermistor is good, check wiring continuity to the control board. If wiring is intact, the control PCB may be defective.
