Possible Causes
Burned-out cavity lamp, Loose lamp socket, Faulty lamp wiring, Failed lamp relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before replacing the lamp. Avoid touching the new bulb glass with bare fingers.
Steps to replace the lamp:
- 1. Locate lamp access: On many Tristar microwaves, the lamp is accessible from the rear or side via a small cover plate. On some models, you must remove the outer cabinet.
- 2. Remove cover: Unscrew the lamp cover and carefully pull out the lamp assembly.
- 3. Replace bulb: Remove the old bulb from the socket and install a new Tristar-specified microwave cavity lamp of the same wattage and base type.
- 4. Check socket and wiring: Ensure the socket is not burnt or loose. Repair or replace if damaged.
- 5. Reassemble and test: Refit the cover, plug in the microwave, and test the light by opening the door and running a short cycle.
