Possible Causes
Worn or seized turntable motor, Cracked turntable coupler, Misaligned or dirty roller ring, Stripped drive shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before working underneath or inside the cabinet.
Steps to fix non-rotating turntable:
- 1. Check tray and roller ring: Remove the glass tray and roller ring. Clean both and the cavity floor. Ensure the roller ring wheels turn freely and are not broken.
- 2. Inspect coupler: Remove the plastic coupler from the center of the cavity floor. Check for cracks or wear on the splines. Replace if damaged.
- 3. Test without load: With the tray and ring removed, run the microwave briefly (with a cup of water off to the side) and observe whether the coupler shaft turns. If it does not, the motor may be faulty.
- 4. Access motor: On most Tristar models, the turntable motor is mounted under the cavity floor. Remove the bottom cover (if accessible) and disconnect the motor. Test for continuity. Replace the motor if open or seized.
- 5. Reassemble: Install the new motor, coupler, roller ring, and tray. Test rotation with a light load.
