Possible Causes
Blown internal line fuse, Tripped home circuit breaker, Failed power cord, Defective main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before removing the cabinet. Internal components can be sharp and high-voltage parts are dangerous.
- Check household power: Verify that the outlet has power by plugging in another appliance. Check the home breaker or fuse for the microwave circuit.
- Inspect power cord: Examine the Viking microwave power cord for visible damage. If damaged, it must be replaced.
- Internal fuse: Remove the outer cabinet and locate the internal line fuse (usually near the power cord entry). If the fuse is blown, investigate for underlying causes such as door switch shorts or power surges.
- Replace fuse (if qualified): Replace only with the exact same rating Viking fuse. If the new fuse blows immediately, stop and have a technician diagnose the root cause.
- Control board: If the fuse is good and power is present at the board but the display remains dead, the main control board is likely defective and needs replacement.
