Inspect keypad and ribbon: Remove the control panel. Examine the keypad surface for cracks, warping, or signs of liquid intrusion. Inspect the ribbon cable for kinks, corrosion, or burnt spots.
Reseat ribbon connector: Gently unplug and reinsert the keypad ribbon into the control board connector, ensuring it is fully seated and straight.
Replace keypad or control panel: If F2 persists and buttons are erratic or non-functional, replace the membrane keypad or the entire control panel assembly as specified for your Whirlpool model.

Note: If replacing the keypad does not resolve the issue, the electronic control board may also need replacement.
