Possible Causes
Loose keypad ribbon connector, Damaged keypad cable, Failed control board communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the control panel.
- Reset: Unplug the microwave for 5 minutes, then plug back in. If F6 reappears, continue.
- Remove control panel: Take off the top grille (on OTR models) and remove the screw(s) securing the control panel. Lift and pull the panel out carefully.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Check the keypad ribbon for cracks, discoloration, or kinks. Ensure it is fully inserted into the control board connector.
- Clean connector: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently clean the ribbon contacts. Do not use liquids.
- Test: Reassemble and power up. If F6 persists, the keypad assembly or control board is likely defective.
- Replace faulty component: Replace the keypad/control panel assembly first (most common). If the issue remains, replace the electronic control board.
