Microwave interior light, fan, and turntable come on when door is opened, or continue running with door open

Safety: This is a serious safety issue. Unplug the microwave immediately and do not use it until repaired.

• Inspect door switches: Remove the control panel and inner trim to access the door switch assembly. Check that each switch is correctly mounted and actuated by the door latch.
• Verify wiring: Compare the wiring to the Whirlpool wiring diagram (usually behind the grille or in the service manual). Ensure each wire is on the correct terminal.
• Replace faulty switches: Any switch that shows continuity when it should be open (or vice versa) must be replaced with the exact Whirlpool part number.
• Control board check: If switches and wiring are correct but the problem persists, the control board may be interpreting signals incorrectly and require replacement.
