Safety: Unplug the microwave before cleaning or painting the cavity.

• Clean and dry: Remove all loose paint, rust, and food residue with a non-metallic scrub pad. Wipe clean and dry thoroughly.
• Assess severity: Small rust spots and chips can often be repaired; extensive rust or holes may render the unit unsafe.
• Touch-up: Use microwave-safe cavity touch-up paint to cover bare metal areas. Apply thin coats and allow to cure per product instructions before use.
• Waveguide area: If rust or peeling is near the waveguide cover, replace the cover and ensure no metal is exposed in that region.
• Replace unit if severe: If rust has penetrated through the metal or is widespread, replacement of the microwave is recommended.
