Possible Causes
Failed turntable motor, Broken or stripped turntable coupler, Obstructed roller ring, Damaged glass tray hub
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before accessing the bottom panel.
- Check for obstruction: Remove the glass tray and roller ring. Clean any spilled food or debris. Ensure the roller ring moves freely.
- Inspect coupler: The plastic coupler that fits into the motor shaft can crack. Remove it and check for damage; replace if worn.
- Test motor: With the bottom panel removed (on many Whirlpool models), access the turntable motor. Check for burnt smell or discoloration. Test continuity with a meter; an open motor must be replaced.
- Replace motor: Install a new Whirlpool turntable motor and reassemble. Ensure the coupler and tray are properly seated.
